Aqualma Murray has international experience in social work and has been in the social work field for over twenty five years, her career started in residential care with young people with challenging behaviour. She has worked with a wide range of client groups from varied ethnicity, abilities/disabilities and ages including young offenders in New Zealand and the small population of Pitcairn Island addressing issues of sexual abuse.  

She has worked in area offices as a child protection social worker and has specialised with children and adults who have experienced sexual abuse. Aqualma has experience as a probation officer, Independent Reviewing Officer and Child Protection Conference Chair. 

Aqualma has also worked as a Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO), where she worked alongside police officers, teachers and other professionals, investigating issues of allegations against professionals, including issues of On Line abuse. The Authors experience consist of being a service manager is secure training centre and secure units, a  Service Manager for a child advocacy service, team manager for a London youth offending team, as well as working with young people with Brain Injury.  

Aqualma has progressed to become a trainer and consultant addressing issues of abuse, challenging behaviour, children's mental health, children’s rights, anti-discriminatory, diversity issues, and attachment theory as well as implementing policies and procedures for young people with disabilities. Aqualma now specialises in providing training/ presentation skills and group work, offering Keynote speeches and professional development workshops and conferences to a wide range of professionals. She is also an ordained interfaith minister, which encompasses spiritual counselling/ Empowerment, to all from any religion and those with no religion. 

Aqualma’s training and management style is dynamic and inclusive and valuing of what participants bring and share. It is Aqualma’s opinion that professional participants and service users, including children and young people, know what they want and with appropriate guidance and support they are able to realise this and gain achievements.
